Personal Daily PlanIt
Welcome to the Personal Daily PlanIt! The installation of
your PlanIt has completed successfully.
ReadMe.Txt
Use the scroll bar at the right to view this entire document.
Press "Continue" to close this file and continue with the
installation of the PlanIt.
We hope you enjoy exploring your new PlanIt. Every effort has
been made to make your Personal Daily PlanIt very useful and
extremely entertaining, and yet easy and intuitive to use.
However, should you need a little assistance in navigating your
PlanIt, we have included extensive on-line help that is always
just a click away. The PlanIt provides you with tremendous
flexibility in setting up your planner environment for the way
you like to work. Use the Options menu to customize the planner
tabs, launchers, event icons, and much more.
Additional Setup:
Microsoft Video for Windows Runtime:
In order to run the media clips included with your Personal
Daily PlanIt, you must install the Microsoft Video for Windows
runtime files included on your CD ROM. Click "OK" in the
"Additional Setup" dialog (after next screen) to install
Video for Windows runtime files onto your system. To bypass
Video for Windows installation, click "Cancel." You may
perform this installation later by running the SETUP.EXE file
in the VFWRTIME directory on your CD ROM.
Dragon Systems Talk->To Plus Voice Recognition:
The Personal Daily PlanIt not only supports Voice Annotation
for recording important notes to yourself about upcoming (or
past) events, it may also be voice-controlled! By running the
TALKTO.EXE file from the root directory of your CD ROM, you can
install Dragon System's Talk->To Plus speech recognition
program. You will need to put a copy of the PlanIt icon into
the "Dragon Talk->To Plus" group (do this by holding down the
control (Ctrl) key and dragging the PlanIt icon from the
"Personal Daily PlanIt" group to the "Dragon Talk->To Plus"
group). This will allow you to use simple voice commands to
control most of the features in your PlanIt. You may never
need to touch the keyboard!
Note: The word "Alarm" in the Personal Daily PlanIt vocabulary
for Talk->To Plus has no corresponding function in the PlanIt
program. You may delete this word from the PlanIt vocabulary
using the Talk->To Plus Browser.
Startup Group:
If you want your PlanIt to automatically run when you load
Windows, copy the PlanIt icon from the Personal Daily PlanIt
group to the Startup group (do this by holding down the
control (Ctrl) key and dragging the PlanIt icon from the
"Personal Daily PlanIt" group to the "Startup" group).
You may set up the launcher buttons to play any of a host
of included entertainment features, or to launch your most
commonly used programs. Whether running in the foreground,
the background, or minimized, your Personal Daily PlanIt
is always ready to alert you of any pressing events with
the media clip of your choice.
Don't forget to visit all three PlanIts:
Warren Miller Entertainment presents PlanIt Adrenaline,
Swimwear Illustrated presents PlanIt Paradise, and
National Wildlife Federation presents PlanIt Earth
Addendum to the Documentation:
In the Print dialog, when printing the Planner or ToDo List,
the print range selection has been changed from "All Future
Events" to provide more useful selections of the "Next 7 Days"
and the "Next 30 Days." Of course, you always have the option
of entering any date range you desire in the "From"-"To" boxes.
Memory and SMARTDRV:
If you are running Windows on a 4 MB system with 256 or more
colors or an 8 MB system with more than 256 colors (16- or
24-bit color), you may encounter problems if you are running
SMARTDRV with default settings. Ordinarily, SMARTDRV reserves
2 MB of memory (XMS) and this memory is not available to
Windows programs. We recommend changing your SMARTDRV
settings to:
SMARTDRV 2048 256
For more information on these settings and their effect, type
'help smartdrv' from your DOS directory. Also, you can check
the available memory by typing:
MEM /C
Printing:
When using the HP Laser Jet 4Mx Si printer driver, select from
the following fonts: Arial, Courier New, Times New Roman,
Symbol, or Wingdings. If you need to use other fonts, try
switching to the Laser Jet 3Si printer driver.
